As far as I know, Sri BhagavatpAda Shankara wrote of the birth of SriSriDevakinandana [Sri Shankara's term] as an event whose goal was the preservation of brAhmaNatva. Note, He did not use the term "brAhmaNa", perhaps for good reason. The indication here is 2-fold, and i beg to be corrected and better educated on this matter. 1) Is not the goal of the Sanatana Dharma to lead ALL to brAhmaNatva, i.e. the apatya or son of BrahmaNa[vRhatvanca bRnhaNatvAt]? 2. No matter what the Adyatana aspect of the Sanatana Dharma might be, no matter how disfigured by Time, kALArkabhakShita, is it not this message of bringing ALL to brAhmaNatva, and thence to BrahmaNa, to essence of the Sanatana Dharma?
